Step 3 to Wellness – Cleanse & Detox

By regularly detoxifying the liver and bowel, not only is your body cleansed but it also supports the liver enabling it to perform its important filtering role more effectively.

Cleansing helps to detoxify and rejuvenate the liver thereby stimulating healthy bile secretion. Cleansing also assists digestive and other health problems that are associated with toxic overload and deficient liver function.

Cleansing the colon can aid in detoxification of the body, balance blood sugar, lower cholesterol, assist with weight management, aid regular digestion and elimination, remove toxins from the body, and improve overall health.

Our gastrointestinal tract is both our means of gaining nutrition and eliminating waste. If it is functioning correctly, waste products are eliminated efficiently ensuring that tissues remain healthy and beneficial bacteria live in harmony. However, if it becomes blocked or sluggish, waste products can build up and be reabsorbed. This pollutes our internal tissues and organs, increases tissue acidity and provides an ideal breeding ground for harmful bacteria and fungi.

Poor diet is conducive to sluggish bowel movements. The bowel itself can then become a sewer for further polluting toxins to be formed. A common yeast that grows on this half digested food is candida which can cause fatigue and disturb overall wellness.

Aside from digestion, the small intestine is where most of nutrient and mineral absorption occurs. Accumulation of fats, food residues, and parasites decrease the bioavailability of nutrients and minerals, meaning you are missing out on the nutrients you are ingesting.

An effective wellness plan must include functional foods that help to naturally stimulate bowel elimination. Such good combination ‘foods’ to enhance bowel movements, would include such foods as psyllium fibre and Aloe vera juice having a natural laxative effect.

Beneficial foods for the bowels include:

  • Figs
  • Prunes
  • Flaxseeds
  • Apples
  • Fennel
  • Rice Bran
  • Barley Grass
  • Ginger
  • Turmeric
  • Oats
  • Fruits And Vegetables
  • Whole grains

It is important to gradually add fibre to your diet aiming for approximately 20 to 35 grams of fibre a day. If you suffer from constipation regularly or have been eating a fibre-deficient diet it is ideal to gradually increase your fibre intake.

Cleansing the bowels may assist the following:

  • May assist skin problems such as acne and eczema
  • Migraines and headache
  • Beneficial in diverticulosis
  • Assists regular bowel function
  • Allergy sufferers
  • May help improve energy levels and fatigue
  • May help eliminate parasites
  • May assist in joint pain
  • May help combat recurrent infections
  • Overall health and wellbeing

Daily exposure to toxins can overwhelm the body’s protective mechanisms and burden it with toxic substances that continuously cycle through the body until the liver can detoxify them for elimination from the body.

Our liver filters our blood, detoxifies chemicals and hormones, produces bile for fat digestion, makes cholesterol for hormone production, regulates your blood sugar levels and provides immune surveillance.  A huge job for a single organ!

Although your liver can detoxify itself, if your body is lacking the specific nutrients needed for effective and safe detoxification through the desired detoxification pathways, toxins can build-up and cellular damage can occur.  This is the main rationale for doing a liver detox.

Liver detoxification involves eating well, reducing negative lifestyle habits and taking specific nutrients to aid your body’s cleansing and rejuvenating efforts.  When done properly for a minimum of one to two weeks, a liver detox can give you a fresh, revitalised view on life.

When to do a detox

As a general rule most people benefit from doing a detox once or twice a year for one to two weeks duration.  Depending on your lifestyle and diet, you could detox more or less often.

Some signs that you may be in need of a detox:

  • You suffer from recurrent chronic infections.
  • Your feel tired and easily fatigued even when you get enough sleep.
  • The dark circles under your eyes remain even after adequate sleep.
  • Your skin breaks out regularly for unknown reasons.
  • You suffer from constipation, flatulence or gas pains even after eating enough fibre.
  • You regularly get headaches or migraines that are not related to eyestrain or posture.
  • You regularly consume alcohol, caffeine, excess sugar or smoke cigarettes.
  • You live in the city or work around pesticides or other chemicals.
  • You regularly take pain killers, prescribed medications or other drugs.

  1. I’ve been browsing on-line greater than 3 hours these days, yet I by no means found any attention-grabbing article like yours. It is lovely worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content material as you did, the internet will probably be a lot more useful than ever before.
